Paula Dean's Pb and J bars recipe?

Does anyone have it?

Thank youPaula Dean's Pb and J bars recipe?
I have this one but it's from Ina Garten not Paula Dean.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Bars

1/2 pound (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

2 extra-large eggs, at room temperature

2 cups (18 ounces) creamy peanut butter (recommended: Skippy)

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt

1 1/2 cups (18 ounces) raspberry jam or other jam

2/3 cups salted peanuts, coarsely chopped

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Grease a 9 by 13 by 2-inch cake pan. Line it with parchment paper, then grease and flour the pan.

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugar on medium speed until light yellow, about 2 minutes. With the mixer on low speed, add the vanilla, eggs, and peanut butter and mix until all ingredients are combined.

In a small bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. With the mixer on low speed, slowly add the flour mixture to the peanut butter mixture. Mix just until combined.

Spread 2/3 of the dough into the prepared cake pan and spread over the bottom with a knife or offset spatula. Spread the jam evenly over the dough. Drop small globs of the remaining dough evenly over the jam. Don't worry if all the jam isn't covered; it will spread in the oven. Sprinkle with chopped peanuts and bake for 45 minutes, until golden brown. Cool and cut into squares.Paula Dean's Pb and J bars recipe?

Broccoli Salad

1 head broccoli

6 to 8 slices cooked bacon, crumbled

1/2 cup chopped red onion

1/2 cup raisins, optional

8 ounces sharp Cheddar, cut into very small chunks

1 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons white vinegar

1/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup halved cherry tomatoes

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Trim off the large leaves from the broccoli stem. Remove the tough stalk at the end and wash broccoli head thoroughly. Cut the head into flowerets and the stem into bite-size pieces. Place in a large bowl. Add the crumbled bacon, onion, raisins if using, and cheese. In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients, stirring well. Add to broccoli mixture and toss gently
Here is Broccoli Cole Slaw

2 bags (3-ounce) Ramen Noodle Soup in Oriental (other flavors will work, too)

3/4 stick butter

1/4 cup slivered almonds

2 bags (12-ounce) bags broccoli Cole slaw (in the bagged salad section of the grocery store)

1/4 cup sunflower seeds

Chopped green onions, for garnish

Dressing Mix:

3/4 cup canola oil

1/4 cup brown or white sugar

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

1 ramen noodle seasoning packet

Put the ramen noodles in a bag and crush them with a rolling pin while melting butter in a large skillet over low/medium heat. Add the crushed noodles and slivered almonds to the skillet and saute, stirring occasionally (keep temperature at low/medium heat). Meanwhile, whisk together all the dressing ingredients in a small bowl. Place the shredded broccoli into bowl and toss with the noodles, almonds, and sunflower seeds. Pour dressing over salad and toss to coat. Garnish with chopped green onions.

I don't know if it's the one that you want but it has both of the ingredients that you said were in it. I just did a search of food network typed in Paula Dean and then refined the search with Salads. This is what I got. Hope it helps.

When making the sugar nut glazed brie recipe (paula deans) do you bake the brie with the rind on or off ?

Brie is one of the few cheeses where you leave the rind on. It's a soft cheese, and even the rind is soft enough to eat. When making the sugar nut glazed brie recipe (paula deans) do you bake the brie with the rind on or off ?
1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup chopped macadamia nuts or pecans

1 tablespoon brandy

1 14-ounce round of Brie

apple wedges

pear wedges

lemon juice

crackers

Directions:

In a small bowl stir together the sugar, nuts, and brandy. Cover and chill for at least 24 hours or up to one week. At serving time, place the Brie on an ovenproof platter or pie plate. Bake at 500 degrees F for 4 or 5 minutes or until the Brie is slightly softened. Spread the sugar mixture in an even layer on top of the warm Brie and bake for 2 to 3 minutes longer, or until the sugar melts. Brush the fruit wedges with lemon juice and arrange them around one side of the Brie. Place crackers around the other side.

Yield: 16 to 20

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 10 minutes

Ease of preparation: Easy

You could have gone to her website and looked this up, like I did. When making the sugar nut glazed brie recipe (paula deans) do you bake the brie with the rind on or off ?
You leave the Rind on the Brie. However unless you really like Brie maybe try another type of cheese. I tried this recipe for christmas and the cheese ended up smelling and tasting like dirty socks. But I do have to say that the macadamian nuts are so good in the glaze you put them in. Now I just make the nuts and put them on crackers or apples.
On.The inside will melt.

(Islandgurl, sounds like your Brie went bad -- Brie is a soft cheese that isn't usually aged long, so if the cheese just under the rind is brown, it can be old and strong. Buy the brie without brown colors under the rind for the mildest taste.)

Goat cheese is a delicious substitute for brie in that recipe, btw.
You always leave the rind on!

I don't like brie either...so you can substitue brie for another soft ripened cheese...such as Camembert, Bousin cheese or even cream cheese. With the boursin cheese and cream cheese though..make the topping and add it after it is made. Don't bake the cream cheese or the boursin unless it is in a dish..it will run!
The rind on Brie is completely edible, and adds to the overall flavor. The same is true of Camembert. I posted a recipe on my French Cuisine section of Suite101.com for Camembert baked in it's box.
Always leave the rind on. It is edible as well as the mold that is on it. Americans typically prefer their brie less aged than the Europeans.
Whenever I have had baked brie it is baked with the rind on. I have baked it with a half wheel, so as to have 2 wheels and had some success with it. I baked some once with apples honey and dried cranberries, it was so good.
From the pic in her recipe the rind is on.

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula鈥?/a>
You need to leave the rind on. Otherwise, you will have a puddle of a mess. The rind is what keeps the cheese together. It will be too liquidy to hold itself together without the rind.

Hope this helps!
I believe paula left the rind on the sides alone, but shaved as much as she could off the top. When she did it there was still a little left but she took off as much as possible.
When baking Brie it is best to leave the rind on since it will just fall to soup without it.
I've never heard of anyone taking the rind of Brie. As the rind is completely edible there seems little point.
Buy a good quality Brie so you don't get the dirty socks taste.

It does make a difference.

And yes, you leave the rind on.
on, definitely on
Keep it on, it helps keep the cheese's shape and keep it all deeeelicious!

yum.
you should probably bake it with the rind off otherwise it will look and taste funny
Keep it on. So it won't make a gressy mess. And it will be much easier to serve
leave the rind on!
the rind holds thr melted cheese in
ON.
With It On
excuse me???
on.
Ikd, but u should look at the website. :-0

I've even met Paula Deen in person!

I found a recipe (paula dean's) with oxtails. what exactly is oxtails?

Oxtails that they sell in the store are from cows. I see them in all the supermarkets I go to. I use them often and they are very expensive!I found a recipe (paula dean's) with oxtails. what exactly is oxtails?
Why would anyone know they weren't from ';actual oxen anymore';? Let's try looking up the difference between a cow and an ox..... Report Abuse
I found a recipe (paula dean's) with oxtails. what exactly is oxtails?
Ox tails come from the larger part of the tail from beef. As the tail gets smaller there is no meat around the bones. Oxtails make a very good broth and the meat is very tender. Good substitutes are beef short ribs, beef shanks or beef stew. Report Abuse

Use your common sense girl. OXTAILS!
They are real tails from real oxen (catch the ox and then cut off it's tail), usually used in german recipies for soup or stews.
As far as I know, it is sliced ox tail. At least that is what my mom told me. I substitute stewing beef or chicken thighs. Guess I'm a little squeamish that way.
As in oxtail soup....it is the cut tail of an ox.
I would use beef shank for when ever this recipe calls for oxtails.
They are actually tails of oxen.
An oxtail is an ox tail - the tail of an ox (or probably steer). You can find them in meat markets or in the meat section of better grocery stores.

Who has the better recipes: Rachel Ray, Martha Stewart or Paula Dean??

paula deen. i do not like..30 min. meals by blabbermouth ray... and martha, sometimes i just do not like the stuff she cooks. when you cook, you want flavor. paula seems to have good recipes, and you can always try a different { lower fat } way of making the dish.Who has the better recipes: Rachel Ray, Martha Stewart or Paula Dean??
Im not going on the health kick here, so southern girl paula has got the best. It's like something your mother would make and who doesn't love that:)Who has the better recipes: Rachel Ray, Martha Stewart or Paula Dean??
paula deen and she is so fun to watch also..who doesnt like southern homestyle cookin at its best?? gotta love butter....
I'm going to say Paula Dean because everything she makes has about 4 sticks of butter in it. And you know that anything that has four sticks of butter in it has to be good.
I would pick a Martha Stewart recipe unless I was going for artery clogging, then I would pick Paula's. I am not a Rachael Ray fan.
Paula Deen. You just can't beat those southern down home cookin' recipes.
Rachel Ray. Martha needs to die, and Ive never heard of Paula. So yes, Rachel.

    2 pounds lean ground beef

    1 pound ground turkey

    2 large onions, chopped

    3 cups water

    1 (29-ounce) can tomato sauce

    2 (15-ounce) cans diced tomatoes

    3 cloves garlic, minced

    2 tablespoons Italian seasoning

    3 bay leaves

    3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon House Seasoning, recipe follows

    1 tablespoon seasoned salt

    2 cups dried elbow macaroni

In a Dutch oven, saute the ground beef and ground turkey over medium-high heat, until no pink remains. Break up meat while sauteing; spoon off any grease. Add the onions to the pot and saute until they are tender about 5 minutes. Add 3 cups water, along with the tomato sauce, tomatoes, garlic, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, soy sauce, House Seasoning, and seasoned salt. Stir well. Place a lid on the pot and allow this to cook for 20 to 25 minutes.

Add the elbow macaroni, stir well, return the lid to the pot, and simmer for about 20 minutes. Turn off the heat, remove the bay leaves and allow the mixture to sit about 30 minutes more before serving.

    House Seasoning:

    1 cup salt

I hope you realize that that is not authentic Hungarian Goulash. They would never use ground beef or macaroni in it. Go to www.foodnetwork.com to find her recipes.
    1 strip bacon

    2 onions, medium dice

    1 tablespoon olive oil

2 1/2 pounds stewing beef, cut into 1/2-inch cubes

    1 garlic clove

    Pinch caraway seeds

2 tablespoons good quality sweet paprika (see cook's note)

    2 cups warm water

    2 cubes beef bouillon

    2 whole canned tomatoes, chopped

    1 green bell pepper

    4 or 5 potatoes

2 tablespoons sour cream, plus more for plating

1 pound prepared spaetzle, as an accompaniment

Cucumber salad, as an accompaniment, recipe follows

Cook's Note: using good quality paprika is important. After about a year, paprika spice tends to lose its intensity. Use the best quality possible!

In a cold, heavy 6 to 8-quart stewing pot, fry bacon over low-medium heat until fat is rendered, and then discard bacon slice.

Saute onions in the bacon fat for a few minutes, do not allow the onions to brown. If bacon does not provide enough fat, add a little olive oil to prevent the onions from sticking. When onions become glossy, add the beef, sauteing with the onions for about 10 minutes, covered, until the meat is browned.

Meanwhile, chop and crush the garlic with the caraway seeds; add to meat and onions. Remove pot from heat. Stir in paprika rapidly with a wooden spoon. Immediately after paprika is absorbed, add the warm water. The water should just cover the meat, leaving room for potatoes.

Add beef bouillon cubes. Cover pot and cook over low heat for about 1 hour.

While stew is braising, prepare the tomatoes by cutting into 1-inch pieces. Core green peppers and cut into strips. After 1 hour of braising, add the tomatoes and green pepper. Add a little more water, if necessary and a little more salt if you need it. Simmer slowly for another 30 minutes.

Peel potatoes and cut into bite-sized cubes and set aside in a bowl of water. Add potatoes, and cook another 30 minutes until the potatoes are fork tender and the goulash is done.

Once goulash is finished, dissolve sour cream and a little of the goulash sauce in a cup. Add to goulash, it should give a creamy consistency. Serve goulash with spaetzle on the side, adding an extra dollop of sour cream to each plate.

    Cucumber Salad:

    2 cucumbers

    Seasoned salt

    1/2 onion

    1/2 cup white vinegar

    1/4 cup water

    2 teaspoons sugar

    1/8 teaspoon sweet paprika

Pinch dill, dried or fresh (optional)

    Dollop sour cream (optional)

Peel and slice cucumbers very thinly. The side of a metal grater with the wide slots works best here, or you can use a mandoline. Place cucumbers in a flat dish and sprinkle throughout with salt, making sure that all the slices are salted. Leave to rest for 30 minutes. The salt will draw the moisture out of the cucumbers. Cut the onion into paper-thin slices and place in a container. Once the cucumbers have released water, use your hands to squeeze out the excess water and add to the onions. The cucumbers are supposed to be limp, but still crisp.

In a measuring cup mix vinegar, water, sugar and paprika to create a vinaigrette. Pour over the cucumbers and onions and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 1/2 hours.

Cook's secret: make the cucumbers before the goulash and it will be perfectly marinated by the time you are done making the stew!

Serve with a sprinkle of dill and a little dollop of sour cream if desired.
I couldn't find the hungarian goulash. There's one called Bobby's Goulash at the foodnetwork site. It sounds good and everything I've never made of Paula Deen's has been fab. Here's the link. http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/鈥?/a>

With fingers, dip the cupcakes into the glaze while they're still warm, covering as much of the cake as possible, or spoon the glaze over the warm cupcakes, turning them to completely coat. Place on wire racks with waxed paper underneath to catch any drips. Let the glaze set thoroughly, about 1 hour, before storing in containers with tight-fitting lids.

    1 (10-ounce) can crushed pineapple

1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

1/4 cup (1/2 stick butter), at room temperature

    10 maraschino cherries

1 (12-ounce) package refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (10 count)

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Grease 10 cups of a muffin tin. Strain the can of crushed pineapple, save juice for later.

Combine the pineapple, sugar, and butter, and mix well. Divide the pineapple mixture among the muffin cups. Place a cherry in the center of each muffin cup, making sure cherry hits bottom of cup. Place 1 biscuit in each cup on top of sugar and pineapple mixture. Spoon 1 teaspoon reserved pineapple juice over each biscuit. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden. Cool for 2 minutes. Invert the pan onto a plate to release the biscuits. Serve warm

What kind of recipes will Paula Dean be creating after the quadruple by-pass?

I quit taking her seriously when she made a bread pudding out of Kirspy Kreme donuts, and STILL added sugar and sweetened condensed milk, and some kind of butter sauce! Yipes! (recipe here: http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/鈥?/a> )

She may do like Graham Kerr, and take a totally healthy twist on cooking. Graham's wife nearly died from a heart attack, and he totally changed his cooking methods.

I hadn't heard she had heart surgery, though. But I'm not surprised she needs it.What kind of recipes will Paula Dean be creating after the quadruple by-pass?
I bet we will see her tweeking her recipes extremely. I do like her recipes but these ones I use once in a great while for that reason. I am 36 and i hope not to end up that way. my hubby already had a angioplasty at 40 so her recipes seldom get to my kitchen only for holidays not for day to day. What kind of recipes will Paula Dean be creating after the quadruple by-pass?
    Good question

She has to be the Queen of invitations to a heart attack with the majority of her recipes

Maybe thats the set up! Cook for a heart attack and if she survives she has a niche into the healthy recipe market!

    Everyone would follow it!
Her recipes are OK in moderation. Some of her recipes are outrageously high cals though.

Maybe she'll start using Splenda and I Can't Believe it's Not Butter.
Did she really have a heart attack? Here is a link to ';I love a challenge or veganizing Paula Deen'; at Eat Air Blog. They took one of her double cheese burgers and turned it into a double veggie burger with veggie cheez. (Actually there are two recipes here...

The episode with the Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding was actually an episode about taking a recipe, and ';making it your own';....so, take HER recipes and make them YOUR own, by substituting lighter, healthier ingredients! Once in a while, you can ';splurge'; and do the Southern (Deen) way
